Slava Rybin is a new media artist exploring intersections of human perception, feedback systems and emergent complexity. Taking inspiration from biological algorithms, cybernetics and contemplative spiritual traditions, he builds evolving, interactive and immersive experiences that invite the audience to cultivate curiosity about the systems that make up our world.
From an early age, Rybin was captivated by digital tools, exploring 3D modeling, motion graphics and game making. During his graphic design studies at university, his discovery of programming led to a lasting focus on generative art and design. His first generative system explored the power of nature-inspired algorithms, letting users evolve abstract shaders through genetic selection. His subsequent study focused on neural texture synthesis, which deepened his understanding of the workings of visual perception and AI systems.
After graduating, Rybin joined the creative studio radugadesign, where he built a generative visual identity system that served the studio's branding for many years. During that time, he worked on many immersive installations and festival works, including the award-winning Dialogue (Glow Shenzhen 2020), which became his gateway into neural cellular automata and complex adaptive systems.
Since leaving the studio, Rybin has worked as a freelance artist and technologist while living as a digital nomad. His projects range from a permanent generative installation for THK Tower at Nuanu, Bali, to AI pipelines, interaction systems and exhibition designs built in close collaboration with the artist Orkhan Mammadov.
The works of Donella Meadows and Norbert Wiener introduced him to cybernetics and systems thinking, which gave his work a clearer framework and encouraged him to pursue a solo practice. Rybin is now focused on deepening his understanding of dynamic systems, emergence and the nature of perception — while sharing discoveries along the way through engaging audiovisual experiences.
