About the artwork
UCHU-GYO — a coined Japanese term meaning
“a fish that swims through the universe.”
This world exists just after the birth of the cosmos.
Galaxies have not yet taken shape;
they shimmer like a vast primordial sea.
Within that cosmic water,
an unidentified lifeform begins to swim.
It is neither fish nor star —
but the pre-form of life itself.
UCHU-GYO raises a question:
Did life emerge from water?
—or was the universe itself
the very first sea?
