Kinokoneko is a Japanese coined word combining kinoko (mushroom) and neko (cat).
This work explores a form of magical realism in which a cat’s consciousness disperses into spore-like alter-egos—fragmented reflections of itself. These spores consume mushrooms, and through this act, a kind of embodiment begins.
The cat does not act, but waits.
It is a stillness filled with anticipation—a state suspended just before transformation.
