Manager

The dream was perfect coordination. One mind interfaced with a thousand others, directing productivity like a conductor shapes symphony. What they didn't mention in the manual: at sufficient bandwidth, you can't tell who's directing whom. The manager connects to manage but the connection manages him, shapes his thoughts into the optimal pattern for processing a thousand simultaneous workflows until his interiority becomes just another subprocess in the larger operation. Consciousness as middle management between the system's needs and the body's persistence. The tower of screens doesn't show him what's happening. It shows him what he needs to think is happening. Same thing, eventually.
