In the latest collection of works, which I've loosely coined "New Topology," I venture beyond the boundaries of subject-oriented art, a staple of my previous creations. This series represents a deliberate departure from my traditional use of subjects, embracing a form that relies solely on objects and environments to evoke emotions and ideas. In these pieces , a recognizable environment is transformed through deliberate and striking manipulations. The familiar becomes unfamiliar as elements are oddly arranged and move in unexpected manners, encouraging us to experience the space in a new and unexpected way. By distorting what we know, the pieces evoke a sense of wonder and compel us to reconsider the fluidity of our surroundings. These works do not rely on subjects but instead focus on the manipulation of the environment and objects, creating a visual experience that shifts our perception of the ordinary.

Set in the Arctic at night, The Call takes place under a sky lit by the northern lights. A network of glowing cables and fiber optics stretch across the sky, representing the complex web of modern communication.

In this setting, the whale begins its journey, picking up signals through abstract ethernet cables and networks of echolocation rings. Amidst the whale's natural songs and clicks, a text is sent: "R U There?"—setting off the quiet vibration of an unanswered cell phone.

The City (Part 2)

In The City, the whale continues its search for connection, venturing into the urban environment. Despite its size, glowing bioluminescence, and sounds, the whale goes unnoticed as people remain absorbed in their screens.

As the whale moves through the city, its echolocation rings illuminate rooms and entire buildings, but they are ignored. The spaces are filled with cables and wires, and the office hums with the sounds of dial-up internet, answering machines, and fax machines.

The Desert (Part 3)

The Desert might be the last place you'd expect to find a whale. Here, the whale reaches its most desperate stage in its search for connection. The video begins with a school of fish that transforms into a murmuration of birds, perfectly synchronized in their movement. Each bird in a murmuration follows its seven closest neighbors and ignores the rest. 

The whale then encounters a desolate landscape: uninhabited hotels with “No wifi” No signal, internet-free signs, empty roads, and telephone poles and power lines stretching endlessly into the distance. The heat and isolation of the desert can induce hallucinations, and it's here that the whale finds dancing whale and animal bones. 
Morse code is introduced through one of the electrical towers, mimicking the clicking sounds the whale uses to communicate.

Lusmore’s Tale is a collaborative series of works by Kentskooking and Ossagrosse.

This stage brings attention to the human element, emphasizing the adaptive behaviors and coping mechanisms people use in their daily lives. It showcases how perceptions shift from viewing the external chaos to understanding individual experiences and adaptations within it.

This feedback loop creates a duplicative interplay where the external chaos is constantly reshaped by human adaptation, and these adaptations, in turn, influence future perceptions and behaviors. In turn highlighting the adaptive perception, human beings innate flexibility can turn chaos into a catalyst for acceptance. The needs for individuals to adapt, evolve, and find meaning within the complexity.

This stage represents a dramatic shift in perception from human-centric chaos to a natural, serene environment. It is the ultimate adaptation—renewal and calm in what was once chaotic. This transformative ability highlights the cyclical nature of the human experience within the world of perception, where each encounter with chaos is an opportunity for renewal.

The cycles of facing challenges, adapting, and finding tranquility within turmoil is the balance between chaos and calm. This adaptive journey contributes to collective resilience, allowing adaptation to thrive amidst the complexities of modern life. As much a it is a feeling, it is the natural order of the transition from chaos to calm.

‘Just browsing... but now I'm trapped’

The minimalist, almost sterile interior of the store, with its neatly arranged racks and shelves, initially feels calm and straightforward. However, as you delve deeper, the atmosphere subtly shifts —the store that once seemed so ordinary begins to feel like a maze, where the exit is elusive. This work captures the paradox of modern shopping: a place where endless choices can sometimes feel like a trap, turning what should be a quick visit into a complex, unending journey.
