About the artwork
‘Sleep Paralysis’ part of the 'Disordered' series and delves into the profound terror experienced during sleep paralysis, capturing the essence of an unseen, unwelcome presence and the ensuing disorientation. To evoke the surreal auditory hallucinations characteristic of sleep paralysis, I have layered and manipulated various sounds, creating a sensory representation of this unsettling phenomenon. For the terrifying visual hallucinations I have juxtaposed disturbing imagery embedded in absurdism.

X New Worlds is a London-based artist and designer who examines the nature of consciousness and the ephemeral. Drawing inspiration from her experiences with sleep paralysis and lucid dreaming, she weaves surreal and absurd worlds that explore the precipice between conscious and unconscious realities.
