Mind Wank is the deliberately audacious pseudonym of a visual artist who channels provocation and experimentation into the realm of AI art. Embracing a transgressive ethos, Mind Wank creates with a mix of absurdity and insight: he uses artificial intelligence to generate imagery that is eerie, darkly comic, and often emotionally raw. His videos and stills might feature distorted figures, uncanny domestic scenes, or glitch-infused text – vignettes that “explore the broken poetry of modern life and the blurred line between memory, fiction, and digital decay,” as one description of his work notes. Despite (or because of) their offbeat style, these works tap into genuine human feelings of disorientation, nostalgia, and rebellion in the digital age. Operating at the fringes of contemporary art and internet culture, Mind Wank has nonetheless achieved notable success and influence. He was an early participant in Fellowship’s Daily program (joining in 2023) and quickly produced an extensive series of pieces – over a thousand works, including the satirical sequence BAD JPEGS. In that series, he gleefully subverted notions of “good” art by embracing compression artifacts and low-fidelity visuals, turning digital detritus into artful statements. Mind Wank is also one of the co-creators of AI OR DIE, the avant-garde AI comedy trio, through which he helps inject a dose of anarchic humor into the AI art landscape.
