About the artwork
PHANTOM ENTITY ENGINE is an attempt to treat chance and difference within AI generation not merely as raw material, but as structural forces that drive the work.
The “improvement” of AI-generated video often proceeds by removing formal breakdowns, discontinuities, and unpredictable transformations as noise, bringing the image closer to the naturalism and coherence of conventional moving-image production. In that process, however, the instability and anomalous transformations that emerge through AI generation can also disappear.
This work focuses on the multiple possibilities latent within generation, and on the differences that arise between them. Rather than treating deformation and deviation as errors to be corrected, each is retained as a possible constituent of the work.
The aim is not to eliminate the uncertainty inherent in AI generation, but to preserve it within the process of making, allowing a distinct form of dynamism to emerge from that instability.
All-AI-Ⅱ is a Japanese AI artist working across visual and video media, using chance operations and experimental methods in a curatorial process. The artist has a background in the music industry and experience as a musician. The work explores fragments that resist narrative resolution—impressions that remain unfinished, emotions that elude categorization, and traces of the metaphysical.
