This piece started with a still and I couldn’t leave it as one moment. It had to loop. I had to revisit experimenting with black and white as I often do after working with vivid colorful images like DesertIA and my DreamZzzone pieces. The man in the hat could be walking to work, could be in his own yard, doesn’t matter. The image came from a series of black and white stills that explored authority in these times of uncertainty for many immigrants. This video was actually the first test where I saw something worth pursuing. The contrast between the bodies and the darkness, the way the color fragments bled through, the texture of the motion as it looped. This was a perfect blend of color and black and white. This is where the idea for Anaglyphica started.
