About the artwork
The eye persists inside its decay. This is not a metaphor — the apple rots around what looks out from its center, and what looks out does not change register, does not soften, does not negotiate with the process surrounding it. By the end the flesh has reduced itself to the minimum necessary to frame what it was always housing. The tears that follow are the apple's, not the eye's. The eye has nothing left to lose.
Deniz Zaide Korkmaz is an artist trained in sculpture. Their practice spans video, installation, painting, sound, digital media, and AI tools, with a focus on the limits of body, material, and form, and the tensions that emerge through uncertainty and contradiction.
