he First Lie of the Sea” explores how myths are formed through the retelling of a single, ambiguous encounter at sea—how memory shifts each time it is revisited, how it shapes those who hear it, and how stories grow beyond the people who first told them. A lone fisherman experiences something unexplainable—something that feels human, yet not. When he shares his story, it begins to change. With each retelling, the unknown takes on form: first a presence, then a woman, then something seductive and dangerous. As the story spreads, more men venture out to sea, guided not by truth, but by belief. What was once uncertain becomes widely accepted, and the original experience is lost. The film reflects on a recurring pattern in history—the tendency to give shape to the unknown, and how that shape is often a woman. What begins as confusion becomes myth, and myth becomes certainty.
