Here, I used a kiss from the magical girl as the trigger for the transformation.
When she kisses the old man on the cheek, a heart-shaped mark appears there, and at that moment his body begins to change violently. His neck and torso stretch into unnatural forms, and a single body proliferates into multiple faces and shapes. Even so, rather than appearing to suffer, the old man somehow seems pleased.
In this piece, I placed the magical girl’s sweetness directly against the raw ugliness of the old man’s bodily transformation. The change does not unfold as simple destruction, but in a way that makes blessing and curse difficult to distinguish. The heart on his cheek is a cute symbol, yet at the same time it is the mark that sets the transformation in motion.
Eventually, the room itself is overtaken by neon colors and strange decorations, while the old man’s body multiplies as though merging with the surrounding space. Beginning with the gentle act of a kiss, the scene progresses into something intensely bizarre. Even so, I think this piece has less of a hellish feeling and more of a strangely happy atmosphere.
I have always been obsessed with laughter, having written countless scripts for sketches and manzaicomedy—not as a performer, but as a writer. The performers would take my scripts and elevate them, interpreting them in ways that made the laughter shine brighter.
Yet within me grew a desire to pursue something sharper, stranger—laughter so radical it might no longer even be laughter at all. Perhaps no one else would laugh, but it would be mine alone.
This vision could not be expressed through words, nor could it be performed by someone else. It belonged entirely to the realm of imagination—unrealizable, until now. In my restless search, the times gifted me with a remarkable technology. AI appeared before me as a new kind of performer.
