About the artwork
A series of short videos in which girls are thrown around and bounced like pinballs, their bodies transforming as they move.
The original images were created with Midjourney and then animated using Seedance 2.0. Some of the source images are 2D anime-style illustrations. I wanted to see how different kinds of visual styles would behave once set in motion.
Seedance 2.0 is relentless when it comes to movement, color, and speed. Watching these girls transform as their bodies are violently thrown around, I sometimes thought to myself, this is pretty brutal. But the more I watched, the more I also began to feel that what girls can face in the real world may sometimes be even harsher than this. In that sense, perhaps these videos can also be seen as expressing one aspect of the impact that the world can have on something innocent.

I have always been obsessed with laughter, having written countless scripts for sketches and manzaicomedy—not as a performer, but as a writer. The performers would take my scripts and elevate them, interpreting them in ways that made the laughter shine brighter.
Yet within me grew a desire to pursue something sharper, stranger—laughter so radical it might no longer even be laughter at all. Perhaps no one else would laugh, but it would be mine alone.
This vision could not be expressed through words, nor could it be performed by someone else. It belonged entirely to the realm of imagination—unrealizable, until now. In my restless search, the times gifted me with a remarkable technology. AI appeared before me as a new kind of performer.
